TAKE A LEAF FROM DAVID

Sir,

How I wish I had a microphone to shout out these words again and again. I wish we can emulate David, where he publicly revealed his heroic deeds. After all the men of Israel were exposed for being cowardice and rabbit-hearted. I can see a young, vibrant man up in arms and ready to take down a giant.The Israelites were just between a rock and a hard place for 40 days. You can imagine how hard their lives became living under fear, but David squared the circle.

Point

There is a point in time where you have to say enough is enough, and this is the time. There is a time where you need to bring to a halt all the things stressing and irritating you and you are the only one who can do that. There was a crisis but David saw an opportunity. Everywhere we are surrounded by precious opportunities, you should not doodle and dawdle while things are going south. Is everything okay in your life? Is there nothing you can do to change your life?

After David heard the menace and skinny things Goliath was saying; it’s like he said to himself ‘‘I do not think I can survive if I can hear this for the second time.’’He thought about his life as a shepherd, his well-being at home and all the challenges he encountered in his life. A wonderful opportunity was revealed for him to close the door of the stressful life.

Achievements

Usually the problems we encounter are the ones that lead to our achievements, they take us from the comfort zone. The fringe benefits of killing Goliath propelled David to knock him down. David was brave and audacious. 1 Samuel 17; 32 says; “Let no man’s heart fail because of him, our servant will go and fight with this Philistine.” David was just a fig tree to remove the egg on their face. This is not making sense! Out of all the experienced, fully armed Israelite soldiers, no one was ready to fight Goliath? So why were they there in the first place?

Win

You go to a battlefield while you are not ready for war. The best thing in war is not just to survive but to win. These men were like a cat that got the cream just because they were alive but they were living as rabbits. How long will you live as a rabbit? Goliath was like a trash thug at your door requesting that you open the door, can you survive that night? Then tell me about the 40 nights. The earth is a battlefield, you cannot sit down, you cannot fold your arms and you cannot bite your tongue. You need to do something.

Despite the vicissitudes and the red flags that this cynical world gives to us, I need people who can join me as we have just embarked on a new year and say I  no longer have the stomach for these itchy problems; it is for the last time! Today is the last time I struggle and it is the last time I fail.
