MBABANE - If you want to register for this year’s national elections, it is advised that you ask for the venue first before you can bounce.

This was advice given to people who vote under Lobamba Constituency following their experience on the first day of the registration. Some residents of the area went to the registration centers as listed in the newspapers, only to find that there was no activity taking place. Worth noting is that, there were 12 registration centres on the list under the five royal kraals forming the Lobamba Constituency.  One of the visited venues was Somnjalose High School in Ezulwini, at 10am. It was discovered that the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) was allocated a classroom to work in at the school. However, they had not yet arrived for work.

Confused

A member of Ezulwini Inner Council, who was deployed at the venue, was confused on what to do, as nothing was communicated to him pertaining to the unavailability of the EBC employees. When called later, the inner council member shared that the area’s Indvuna Ndlavela Mavimbela had informed him that the registration was done in stages. “Indvuna has just told me that EBC will move from one venue to another on different dates. He said they would be here after four days and that is what I will be telling the people,” he said. He added that the registration proceeded well at Gelekeceni, which is one of the zones of the area. Other visited areas were Nkhanini Community Hall and Lobamba National High School. There was no activity in both venues and the people found there said they had no idea about the registration.
