GRUESOME MURDER: MAN STABS, HITS SISTER (15) WITH IRON

PIGG’S PEAK – A 25-year-old man of Mpofu has been arrested and charged for the murder of his 15-year- old half-sister.

The incident occurred on Saturday at around 1am. *Sipho, according to a neighbour, is said to have arrived home from a nearby drinking spot to find other relatives in the main house. He is alleged to have asked about the whereabouts of his cousins who were not at home on the day. His other relatives are said to have informed him that the cousins he was enquiring about had visited their friends. “He then asked where *Siya was and they told him that she had been asked to babysit another relative’s toddler and were both asleep in a separate room in the same homestead. He then went to the room where Siya and the toddler were sleeping. Upon arrival, he entered the house and started assaulting Siya,” said the neighbour.

Sipho allegedly hit Siya with an iron on the head for several times and then stabbed her in the chest, resulting in her death. The neighbour further related that they still could not understand what the bone of contention was. He said even after they asked him why he allegedly killed his sister, they could not get a clear answer. “He did not even know what he had done, soon after he had killed his younger sister, he fell asleep in the car. The police found him asleep,” said the source. The neighbour said when they recorded a police statement at around 9am, Sipho seemed to have slept the alcohol off but he could not give a clear explanation why he had killed his sister. “These people grew up together. They share the same mother but have different fathers,” said the source. Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Phindile Vilakati confirmed the murder.
