BUHLENI – Yet another arson attack has been recorded, bringing such incidents to seven in a space of five days.

This time, unknown arsonists petrol-bombed Nkamanzi Umphakatsi, situated under Ndzingeni Inkhundla. Prince Gija is the Chief of Nkamanzi Umphakatsi where the arson was committed.
Last Friday, not far from Nkamanzi, a house belonging to a warder was set alight, destroying property worth hundreds of thousands of Emalangeni. On the same morning, another arson attack was committed around Herefords near Buhleni, leaving a seven-year-old child burnt on one of the hands and property destroyed. Zombodze Emuva Inkhundla was also torched on Sunday morning while two pupils escaped with injuries after their home was set on fire.

It was gathered that at Nkamanzi, about six houses were targeted in the fire that was started just before 4am.  According to some of the residents, the arsonists fled after the incident.
Prince Gija was reached for comment but he said he was not able to give any details for now as he was yet to go to the umphakatsi to assess the extent of the damage the fire caused.
Other recent arson attacks include the burning of heavy duty vehicles valued at about E3.6 million belonging to the Pigg’s Peak Town Council. The vehicles were parked in one of the town council’s sheds. The incident happened last Wednesday.
