GOVT MUST ADDRESS MATTER - SWACOF
MANZINI – “This is a concern that government needs to address as it affects us as taxpayers.”
President of the Swaziland Consumer Forum (SWACOF), Mandla Ntshakala, said the Ministry of Health needed to be accountable to the taxpayers as they received a better chunk of the national budget. He said the shortage of medication in health facilities was a failure to meet the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No.3. The United Nations (UN) lists this SDG as good health and well-being and countries should ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all, at all ages.
Ntshakala said failure by the Ministry of Health to avail medication meant risked lives of the citizenry and deprived them of good health, which was contrary to the binding obligation government had with the citizens.
