WANTED LISWATI ROBBERY SUSPECT SHOT DEAD IN SA

MBABANE - A liSwati, who was wanted for a string of robberies in the country, was shot dead in South Africa.

The liSwati, Lucky Diamond of Eqinisweni in the Shiselweni Region, was killed on Sunday morning, having escaped from the country last Thursday after shooting a customer and further stabbing an Asian national who runs a shop at Eqinisweni. In fact, it was established that there were eight other robbery offences wherein the now deceased Diamond was involved in robberies in the Shiselweni Region. The Indian national was experiencing a second robbery last Thursday.

His cellphones, groceries and money were taken from him. There is a trending video on social media where the deceased is seen attacking the Indian national. In the video dated June 16, 2022, the now deceased Diamond is seen slapping the businessman countless times while carrying a sharp object. While at that, a customer walked into the shop oblivious to that there was a robbery going on and was shot in the process. In the video, the businessman later falls down and the robber continues to attack him until he stabs him in the back before exiting the shop with money.

“The customer is still alive,” narrated the source. In another incident, it was said that the now deceased man boarded a kombi with his friends and at their targeted place, they requested to be dropped off. It was said that it was at the drop-off point wherein the now deceased fired shots and demanded money from the driver and about six passengers who were on board, taking their cellphones as well. Also, it was gathered that there were other shops in town that he allegedly robbed including a car dealership, which was robbed of over E60 000 a month ago. It was established that the deceased was allegedly committing another crime in SA, at a place called Gaxa when he was shot.

A relative who did not want to disclose much, stated that they were informed by their SA-based relatives on what transpired. He said they were still coming to terms with the loss of their own and did not wish to make further comments. Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Phindile Vilakati confirmed that there was a man who stabbed a businessman and further shot a customer. She said the man was wanted for his crimes.
