MANZINI – Transport owners are hearing none of this.

They want their employees to be at work today. Swaziland National Local Transport Association Secretary General Ambrose Dlamini said they were not aware of what was said by EKABAWU and were totally against it. The secretary general wondered how they, as owners of public transport, would be sidelined while workers stopped working for the day. He said operations would resume normally today.

“What makes them, even if they are unions, to make decisions without the involvement of stakeholders? As an organisation that heads public transport, we know nothing about this yet we should be the first to be informed,” Dlamini said. Meanwhile, President of the Buses Association Duma Msibi was amazed at the news of public transport workers halting operations. Msibi said the association had not been informed and it was quite difficult to comment on because he was not aware of the resolutions made by EKABAWU. The president expressed concern that their counterpart association had made resolutions without involving them.
