MANZINI – An Isuzu truck belonging to Sive Siyinqaba National Movement Acting Chairperson Ngom’yayona Gamedze, was burnt beyond repair.

The truck was torched while parked at a garage in Trelawney Park, Manzini, on Friday midnight. It had been there for hardly four days, as it arrived last Monday to be fixed after it developed mechanical faults in the engine. Worth noting is that this incident happened hardly a month after Gamedze’s Mercedes-Benz E250 was burnt by unknown people at his home at Mfabantfu. This was in the early hours of April 8. After the arson attack at his home, Gamedze said nothing would make him change his mind regarding his political beliefs. Instead, he said it would be harder than before.

Meanwhile, it is suspected that the arsonists who burnt the truck at the garage were targeting his vehicle, because it was the only one that was burnt in the garage, from many others that had parked there. According to an impeccable source at the garage, it was around midnight on Friday, when someone informed him that there was a fire and a truck was burning outside. He said he opened the door and witnessed the burning truck. Immediately, he said the Eswatini National Fire and Emergency Services personnel were called, who came to attend to the incident promptly. He mentioned that  police also arrived. The source disclosed that hardly 20 minutes after the truck had been burnt, three cars were seen slowly passing by the garage. The source said this was the first time an arson attack was done at the garage, since operations in the past 20 years.

When drawn for comment, Gamedze confirmed the arson on his truck. He said he took the truck to the garage to get it fixed and he was not aware of who was behind the arson attack on the about E450 000 worth vehicle. Asked to react in light of the fact that this was the second attack on his vehicles within a space of about a month, Gamedze said he could not divulge more, but was pinning his hope on the law enforcers to do their job.
