MANZINI – “Many interpretations may be derived from the utterances of the unfortunate and regrettable statement.”

This is what SWALIMO President Mduduzi ‘Gawuzela’ Simelane, who is in self-exile, said regarding the matter. “Many interpretations may be derived from the utterances of the unfortunate and regrettable statement, to an extent that our members are justified to such assumptions and feelings of provocation,” the SWALIMO president said. He said this was also alluded to in his Facebook account wall, and the SWALIMO official statement. In his Facebook account, ‘Gawuzela’ said the secretary general’s office had released a statement on the contemporary issues, and he prayed that the matters be put to rest and stay the cause.

Thereafter, when speaking to this publication yesterday, he said personally, he was more focused on the ultimate goal of achieving liberation for their people and on improving strategies of uniting forces, than those which would divide them as a nation.  Therefore, he called for calm and resilience from their members from all forms of provocation that might emerge in their struggle journey. As progressives, he said they might have different approaches to the struggle, and some could be confrontational, but they still needed to work together to defeat the common enemy of the people.

“I hold nothing against the leader in question, and I have put the issue to rest,” the SWALIMO president said. Further, in his Facebook post, he wished that all the cadres who were injured in the unnecessary fiasco to recuperate so that they could take their rightful place on the battle front as they pushed the people’s enemy.

Saluted

Thereafter, he saluted TUCOSWA leadership for doing their best under the circumstances. He also thanked workers of Eswatini for carrying the struggle forward. Worth noting is that, the statement of PUDEMO President Makhanya was cited as one of the reasons that made SWALIMO members, who attended the Workers Day celebration, to protest, something which disrupted the proceedings and led to the clash among  the political parties; PUDEMO, SWALIMO and CPS. At least four activists were injured and two of them were rushed to hospital.
