MBABANE – Pastor Richard Dlamini from Kwaluseni Alliance Church says the video that is trending on social media of him preaching about what has now become the ‘Spoon Sermon’, is old.

He said the video was from 2018 and had nothing to do with the ongoing political issues in the country. The pastor shared these sentiments in an interview with this publication yesterday.  He was responding to a question on the circulating video where he was preaching on the importance of sharing and giving clarity on a picture of his car that was involved in an accident. The video of Dlamini and the picture of his car were reposted on social media and had received a lot of speculations, with some people stating that it was a current video which was addressing the ongoing political issues in the country.  The sermon was about the importance of sharing, where he made an example of a spoon and ensuring that many people were able to feed from the spoon.

According to Dlamini, the message from the video was not in any way taking sides in the political issues of the country, but rather conveying a message from God in 2018. “I was not presenting a view but a message from God’s Word in 2018. The Word of God is, however, not limited to time because it still applies now. I do not mind that my video is trending, but I hope that it is used for peace, not division, for giving life and not destroying lives and for love not hatred,” he said.

Political

When questioned on his stance regarding the current political issues in the country, Dlamini stated that his stance was the Word of God and everything it stood for. “As a servant of God, I have an obligation to speak in honour and respect to all who want to know what God says, which may influence my views. So if they would seek my views, I would be glad to share them, not just to impress but for divine solutions,” he said. The pastor mentioned that he believed that all matters needed to be addressed on proper platforms in order to be resolved in a good and safe manner for all parties involved. He said there was no crime in raising concerns, but it was also important to have a proper way to do so. Furthermore, he mentioned that the picture of his car was of an accident which he believed was not connected to the video.

“As for my accident, I may not influence others on what to see, but I consider it as a normal accident which has happened to other drivers too at some point in their lives. While some lost their lives, I look at it as one where God’s grace covered me and I survived. Sengiyobonga umnikelo wekutfola lenye imoto,” he said in jest. The video of the pastor and the picture of his car attracted a number of comments from the public. While some speculated that the video was recent and the pastor was addressing the current political issues, and as a result, he then got involved in the car accident, others clarified that the video was old and so was the picture of the accident.
