BUHLENI – Pastors often preach forgiveness, but when a pastor suspected another of cheating with his wife, he allegedly failed to practise what he preaches.

Instead, he allegedly took the law into his own hands. The incident is said to have happened near Mpofu where the two pastors are said to be based. Pastor *Jomo is alleged to have suspected that his fellow clergyman Pastor *Jim was having an affair with his wife. Jim had recently acquired a seven-seater vehicle. This publication gathered that the pastors are from different churches and Jomo is alleged to have been informed that Jim was proposing love to his wife. Pastor Jim is also said to be an overseer of other churches but has a home near Mpofu, where his vehicle was set alight. Pastor Jomo is then said to have gone to Jim’s homestead and allegedly set his newly-acquired vehicle on fire. Fortunately, there was no one inside the vehicle.

Complained

Some of the congregants who spoke on condition of anonymity said the aggrieved pastor is said to have complained after being tipped off about the allegations. They said the residents were also angry with Pastor Jim whom they accused of seeing the Pastor Jomo’s wife. It was also gathered that Jomo is said to have been alone when he allegedly went to burn Jim’s vehicle. The matter was reported at Buhleni Police Post after which police officers responded to the incident. Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Phindile Vilakati confirmed the incident, which she said was reported at the beginning of the past week. No one has been arrested yet in connection with the incident. Noteworthy, a pastor was also recently reported at the Buhleni Police Post for allegedly stealing doors. Pastor Mangetse Zwane has already appeared at Pigg’s Peak Magistrates Court for the alleged theft and was released on bail.
He was granted bail of E5 700, while the allegedly stolen doors were valued at E11 412.
