MANZINI – A number of emaSwati based in South Africa were seen protesting in the perimetres of Netcare Unitas Healthcare in Pretoria, South Africa.

This is where they claimed the Queen Mother is currently being treated. Video footage shared in various media platforms, including Swaziland Democratic News, showed the people singing political songs and calling for the President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, to engage local authority on evacuating her from that republic. In the vicinity of the crowd were members of the South African Police Service (SAPS). Efforts to get comments from the King’s Office Director of Communications, Percy Simelane, proved futile. This reporter wanted to verify information that the Queen Mother had left the country due to ill health. His phone rang unanswered and he did not respond to text messages.

Simelane had been contacted since Sunday morning. Until 9pm yesterday he had not responded to either calls or messages. The first WhatsApp message was sent to him at 11:23 am on Sunday while the first call was placed at 10:45am. Per hour he had been contacted and was yet to respond. A text message was also sent to him at 4pm on Sunday and a follow-up yesterday at 10am.

Also, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Moses Vilakati,  was contacted through WhatsApp call as he is out of the country. Vilakati said he was in a meeting and should be contacted later and subsequently a  WhatsApp message was sent to him at 5:13pm on Sunday and he is yet to respond. Also, the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Melusi Masuku, was on Sunday sent a WhatsApp message and an sms at 5:15pm.

Phone

Also means to contact him through his mobile phone on Sunday and yesterday did not yield any positive results. A text message was also sent to his official mobile number and it is yet to be answered. Ludzidzini Governor  Lusendvo Fakudze was contacted on Sunday and he said he was indisposed and was in Pretoria, South Africa. Yesterday, his phone rang unanswered.
An effort to get the Minister of Health, Lizzie Nkosi, also did not yield any results as she terminated the call while it rang. The call to her was placed at 9:28pm.
