MANZINI - A dagga war resulted in death as a man was beaten by two others for allegedly selling their stock.

The incident happened at Gucuka yesterday night. It was gathered that the man, *Sisho, who was 30 years of age, was allegedly beaten to death by two men for allegedly taking their dagga which was equivalent to a barrel. Sisho was reportedly meant to sell the dagga but he did not produce the money or even the stock itself. The names of all the parties involved will not be revealed because the police have not charged the suspects, and the family of the deceased could not be reached for comment at the time of compiling this report.

According to an impeccable source in the area, the two men confronted the deceased after he allegedly failed to give them money for their stock. It was reported that the pair was taken to a nearby bush in the area, where the deceased claimed he had hidden the dagga. However, the source revealed that the search for the dagga was in vain as they looked around for hours without any lead. According to the source, this led to suspicions that the deceased had allegedly stolen the dagga. It was alleged that the two men used sticks to assault the deceased all over the body.

Confessed

The source shared that it was then that he (deceased) allegedly confessed to having stolen the dagga. It was claimed that the two assaulted him until he was unconscious. The source disclosed that the two men called one of their friends and informed him about what had happened. It was said the friend came over to observe and suspected that the two had killed the man. It was then that the Mliba police were called by the friend, according to the source. Deputy Police Information and Communications Officer Inspector Nosipho Mnguni confirmed the death of the man. She said the two men were taken in for questioning in connection with the death of Sisho.

The issue of people being casualties in dagga wars is not unique as the most recent incident reported by this publication is that of a South African, who was allegedly beaten to death by emaSwati on the South African side of the border. Another incident is that of a duo that was assaulted to death at Maphalaleni when they were found trimming alleged stolen dagga inside their hut.
