MANZINI – The family of the late Pastor Sikhumbuzo’s wife, Jabulile Nkonyane, has spoken about his demise.

Thembinkosi Nkonyane, an uncle to Jabulile who raised her, said as a family they were shocked by the incident and were at a loss for words for all the families involved. Thembinkosi mentioned that he treated Jabulile as his own daughter and that the late Pastor Sikhumbuzo was a great son-in-law.  Pastor Sikhumbuzo was shot by the police on Thursday, around 1am, while at Moneni, following a shooting incident where Shongwe allegedly shot dead businessman Zweli Tsabedze. The businessman was accused of being the cause of disintegration of the marriage of the late pastor and his wife, Jabulile. Thembinkosi first conveyed his condolences and sympathised with the Tsabedze and Shongwe families on what had befallen them. He said none of it was ever planned or expected.

Mourning

He stated that nowadays, it was only anticipated that COVID-19 could be the only thing taking away lives.  He said the Nkonyane family was mourning in unity with them. “As a family, we have only known him (Sikhumbuzo) as our son-in-law. We only got to see his bad side when he shot Tsabedze dead. We did not know his abusive tendencies,” he said. He said the family was only privy to his back and forth court cases with his wife and Tsabedze. Thembinkosi stated that as a family, they were aware of how extensively the media reported about Sikhumbuzo and Jabulile’s disagreements and problems, but at this point, they could only sympathise with the bereaved families. He expressed that the two left behind their children and homes and that they were also businessmen who left projects. He said the country would have benefitted a great deal from their contributions.  Meanwhile, Thembinkosi said Jabulile was alive and well at her mother’s residential area at Sihhoye, and there were no issues.
