MBABANE - Incarcerated Hosea MP Mduduzi Bacede Mabuza has since come out to dispel the allegations that he had close relations with a wardress.

It was previously reported that through investigations, authorities at His Majesty’s Correctional Services (HMCS) purportedly learnt that Mabuza allegedly had close relations with a wardress while behind bars at the Matsapha Maximum Prison. It was reported that investigations, which were commissioned by the office of HMCS commissioner general, purportedly disrupted a plan where it was allegedly gathered that the MP would spend some time with the wardress. According to the previous reports, it was also alleged that other officers within the prison were involved in facilitating the visit by the wardress to the MP’s holding cell.

Statement

In a public statement he issued through his legal team yesterday, the MP said: “I would like to publicly declare that, to the best of my knowledge, there is no or ever was any wardress I had or have a close relationship with.” He went on to state that ever since he was arrested on July 25, 2021 he had been sharing a cell with his co- accused, MP Mthandeni Dube and two other inmates, and he had never stayed alone. “Even currently under isolation, I am in a small cell but I always have an official locked in the cell with me and another outside the cell. These allegations of me having relations with a wardress are made to tarnish my reputation and are an attempt to label me as a hooligan to the nation,” reads part of the statement. He said even if an offer was made to him that he should have a female companion, he would never agree. Mabuza said he would like emaSwati to know that he was not an ordinary inmate who was in prison for committing a crime, but he was a political prisoner. “I was arrested for calling for an elected prime minister, and that is an idea I am willing to stay in prison for or even die for. The public should, therefore, know that those who despise change will try by all means to tarnish my good reputation,” said Mabuza.

Politics

The Hosea MP continued to state that: “I on the other hand, will not play dirty politics; I will remain resolute to democratic reformations, even if it costs me my freedom.” He urged his family, business partners and the mass democratic movement not to be shaken or frightened by what they hear or see in the media. “I am the same Mduduzi Bacede Mabuza who was elected by the people of Hosea to represent them in Parliament. I will remain loyal to the people of Swaziland (Eswatini) and I will never sell the struggle for anything. I pray that the country remains peaceful as everyone is preparing for the dialogue,” said the Hosea MP. Mabuza concluded by assuring emaSwati that with his co-accused, they had the best legal team that could answer any questions they (emaSwati) might have about their well-being in prison and about their matter, and no one else. He pointed out that as part of their legal team; in South Africa they had Advocate Jacobus Koos Van Vuuren and Sicelo Mngomezululu while in the Kingdom of Eswatini they had Ben J. Simelane, Mhlengi Mabuza and Michael Tsabedze. The MP further highlighted that in Parliament, they had put their trust and faith in MP Timothy Myeni but for their freedom, they trusted emaSwati.
