8 COVID-19 DEATHS OVER CHRISTMAS WEEKEND

MBABANE – There were eight COVID-19 deaths recorded over the course of the Christmas weekend.

This now brings the total number of deaths to 1 277, with the highest deaths recorded on Sunday where five people are said to have succumbed to COVID-19-related complications. There was a total of 1 003 COVID-19 cases recorded over the weekend, with an average of 335 cases per day. The confirmed cases were identified from a total of 3 307 tests conducted over the Christmas weekend from Friday.

The lowest number of cases recorded was on Boxing Day, December 26, 2021, where 62 cases were recorded and the most number of COVID-19 confirmed cases was recorded on Friday with 513 cases confirmed on the day. Currently, there are 295 041 people that have been vaccinated throughout the country and 101 people are currently admitted countrywide for COVID-19. According to the Ministry of Health, there are currently 8 223 active cases. These numbers indicate that the current total number of cumulative confirmed cases is now 64 443 and recoveries are a total of 54 943, with 2 690 recoveries recorded over the weekend.
