MBABANE – A church member drove off in a Mercedes Benz on Sunday after Apostle Tafara Chindara from Living Christ International Church felt generous enough to give away his car and furniture items.

He gifted some of the congregants of his church furniture which included his refrigerator, lounge suit, TV set and a bed. In an interview with this publication, the apostle said he gave away the items to some members of his church because gifting was not only for the congregants to do, but pastors as well. He said this was also his way of sacrificing in order for God to bless him. “A lot of people think that to tithe is only for the congregants, but the truth is that everyone should. This was my way of paying sacrifice to God in order for him to answer my prayers. This is not the first time that I give away such gifts to my congregants as I am teaching them that to give is a good thing,”he said.

Principle

Chindara mentioned that the principle of giving all you have to receive more was illustrated by God when he gave the world His son as a living sacrifice in order to win a lot of souls. He further said through his giving, he was opening doors to receive more than what he had given. When questioned on how he picked those he gave his properties to, Chindara said he was led by the Holy Spirit, which showed him the people to give and also items he had to give away.

“I was not choosing randomly, but was led by the Holy Spirit, who told me who to pick and what to give them. Some were being awarded by God on their job well done in the church as they were committed members of the church who helped in many ways. Others were first time comers and God decided to gift them as a token of appreciation for attending the church services,” he said. Chindara further said currently, he was using public transport and was sleeping on the floor. “As I speak, my house is empty. I gave away most of my belongings to the congregation. We do not give because we have, but we give because we love. I will be joining other people in using public transport and I will sleep on the floor until God opens doors for me,” he explained.

Leadership

In an interview with this publication, a congregant, who opted to remain anonymous, said it was not the first time the apostle had gifted members of the congregation with his belongs. He said the apostle would always demonstrate leadership skills through doing what he preached. The church member further said through their pastor’s teachings, they had seen the importance of sacrificing in order to get more. “Our pastor has shown his kindness and the level of leadership by doing what he expects of us. He has helped the members in so many ways, both spiritually and otherwise. He also has prophesied about a number of events which ended up taking place in the kingdom,” he claimed.

Divine Healing Ministries Bishop Nash Shongwe said it was important for pastors to learn that giving was not only for the congregants, but for pastors to do as well. He expressed his gratitude towards the pastor for showing emaSwati that it was important to give as a pastor. “It is exciting to hear such news. More pastors should learn that it is important to do such. It also teaches the congregation the power in giving,” Shongwe said.
