GLOBAL SOCIAL MEDIA NETWORKS BLACKOUT

MBABANE – A global blackout of social media network platforms including Facebook, Whatsapp and Instagram was experienced yesterday.

This was confirmed by Eswatini MTN Corporate Affairs Manager Mandla Luphondvo. Luphondvo stated that affected platforms included those under the Mark Zuckerberg family. According to Luphondvo, they did not know exactly what happened, adding that they had engaged their South African counterparts who were also experiencing the same problem. “It seems there is a challenge globally,” said Luphondvo. He said the problem was not with the MTN network, but social media platforms, particularly those owned by Zuckerberg. Luphondvo mentioned that they had been informed that they were still trying to troubleshoot to resolve the challenge.
