MBABANE – “COSATU is antagonistic in their own country, causing so many job losses which sabotage the South African economy.”

This was said by the Secretary of Mangololo Eswatini, Gcina Dlamini, who said workers in Eswatini understood the importance of promoting trade and investment hence they had looked away from the stunts of border blockades staged by the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU). He said the workers in Eswatini had since realised the bankrupt strategy of the border blockades. “We, as Mangololo Eswatini, wish to request all the investors in South Africa to migrate to our kingdom, where they shall be taken care of and be participants in the African trade. Our business environment is conducive, where we can offer the business investors factory shells and export processing zones around a strategically located King Mswati III International Airport,” said Dlamini in an interview.

Drivers

According to Dlamini, it would be greatly appreciated if COSATU would assist the truck drivers, their brothers and fathers who were greatly humiliated at the hands of the respectable union. “We urge COSATU to put an end to the bad practice and help our truck drivers. They need to give us a chance to deal with our own problems that we are facing locally,” he said. The secretary also mentioned that Eswatini was a peaceful nation which could not afford a situation where the country was destroyed to be rebuilt.
He said they appreciated government’s strategies that had been put in place strengthen and promote national security. The Mangololo Eswatini movement, according to him, did not support the alleged call to recruit emaSwati for underground military training and the ongoing burning of properties. Meanwhile, following the launch of the Reconstruction Fund, Mangololo Eswatini has pleaded with the government to ease COVID-19 restrictions and the curfew. Dlamini said they had noticed countries around the world easing restrictions on economic activity while putting in place measures to contain the spread of the virus.

Vaccination

He said they had been following the vaccination programme and were pleased with the progress, further pleading with government to ease restrictions for the sports, entertainment and liquor industry as they had suffered the most since the genesis of the pandemic. “Some of the industries like sports and entertainment can assist Health vaccination programmes in that they could also pose as vaccination centres while activities are ongoing,” he said. Dlamini acknowledged that the coronavirus had brought a lot of trauma and anxiety to all emaSwati and the rest of the world and there was still a lot of fear about what would happen next. He urged emaSwati to continue contributing to the Reconstruction Fund as the estimate was in the region of E3 billion that would be needed to remedy the situation. “Regardless of the setback, we are determined to see our kingdom attain First World status, having been assisted by our King to transform our mindsets to ensure that we retain our investors and create more job opportunities,” he added.
