LOBAMBA – There are suggestions that Members of Parliament (MPs) should rather seek an audience with the King over the political climate currently prevailing in the country.

Maseyisini MP Mduduzi ‘Small Joe’ Dlamini is the one who suggested that Parliament must go and seek audience with His Majesty. MP Dlamini said the Ingwenyama, King Mswati III was the only leader of Eswatini and who was respected by the people. “He said on many occasions that if the direction is not clear and when you start fighting among yourselves, do not let it continue too far,” he said. “Asambeni bahlonishwa siyonconcotha sive Ingwenyama kutsi itsini because it is like this issue is dividing us (sic),” he submitted. The MP was speaking in light of the various submissions that had been made in house, regarding petitions delivered by protestors, mostly the youth at various tinkhundla centres as well as issues touching on the Constitution.

Grievances

He said if they continued with their squabbles, while emaSwati continued to raise their grievances on issues such as poor road infrastructure, lack of water and electricity and nothing was forthcoming, that was the time to seek an audience with the King. “Sitosondela nini eNgwenyameni?” he asked in vernacular. He wondered what they would say should the authorities take their own decisions and who would they complain to. He pleaded with his colleagues that they must work together as a unit, especially since they were elected by the voters who had put their trust in them.

“They are looking to us for development not that as a representative, I will do as I please and bring my own ideologies,” said Dlamini. He said with due respect, he had a petition that had a list of many things that needed to be implemented by government. He said the youth was visiting the various tinkhundla including his own constituency. He said they were expecting that minister of Tinkhundla Administration and Development and the Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs to give an indication of what should happen. “We haven’t even seen a plan about the youth,” he added.
