MANZINI - Former Gege Member of Parliament (MP) Mbongiseni Malinga and two others were involved in a violent burst-up with Eswatini Pakani officers in full view of the public.

As a result, charges of harassment and common assault have been opened by affected Pakani Eswatini officers, who are law enforcers, against the former legislator and two others (a man and a woman). According to a source close to the matter, the Eswatini Pakani officers found a car believed to have been parked wrongly near Manzini Post Office and King Somhlolo Park in Manzini on Thursday and they clamped it. It is worth noting that this area forms part of the central business district (CBD) of Manzini.

Thereafter, the source alleged that one man approached the Eswatini Parking officers and asked them to unclamp the car. He alleged that while the informed him that the matter was now out of their hands since the vehicle had been clamped and should instead approach the Eswatini Parking office; the former parliamentarian came and demanded that the car should be unclamped and released. Again, the source alleged that the former MP manhandled and shook a female Eswatini Pakani officer as he demanded that the car should be released. Thereafter, the source alleged that Malinga and the other man allegedly manhandled another male officer as they demanded that he releases the clamped car. In the process, the source alleged that the officer was also strangled.

In a 30-minute video clip which was taken during the incident, the former MP and the two other people are seen pushing and shoving a male officer. However, the woman, who supposedly saw the person who was videotaping the incident, rushed to her and asked her what was she doing and allegedly harassed her in the process. Meanwhile, Malinga claimed that the Eswatini Parking officers were on the wrong. He said his offices were within the Manzini Post Office and they have a mutual understanding with his colleagues that if someone had parked in front of other cars and wanted to leave, he would remove the other vehicles in order to get space to go, but then the individual should park the other cars in the designated parking bays.

On this day, the MP claimed that when he wanted to move his car, which was parked in front of the others, he allegedly approached one of the Eswatini Parking officers and told him about what he intended to do. He said after parking one car, which he left with its engine on to remove the other vehicles so that he could drive his out, which he did. However, he alleged that when he was parking the other cars in the parking bay, he found that the his vehicle had been clamped, allegedly by the Eswatini Parking personnel who patrolled around the parking lots and an argument ensued.
