MBABANE - The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) has warned the public against travelling in nine listed areas.

This is because as of Saturday, these places, which include inaccessible roads and flooded rivers, were not ideal for usage as they posed a danger.

These places have been worsened by the ongoing rainfalls which started on Friday.

In a notice issued by Deputy Police Information and Communications Officer Inspector Nosipho Mnguni, she singled out five bridges that people should not dare cross.

These are Mtimphofu at Siphofaneni, Tsambokhulu Bridge at Lomahasha, Mtindzekwa River, Dvokodvweni/Sidzakeni Bridge, Mbuluzi River at Luve/Mbelebeleni.

Mnguni also issued a list of damaged roads leading to some areas. The areas included Mambane, Maphungwane and Tikhuba in Siteki, Ndzangu, Magwanyane, and Dvokodvweni.

Asked about drowning incidents, Mnguni said police were still searching for the body of a 15-year-old who drowned at the Great Usuthu River at KaNdinda.

The teenager is believed to have drowned last Friday.

Recently, the country lost a number of people who drowned in flooded rivers during the course of the heavy rains caused by Cyclone Eloise.

Among those who drowned was well-known traditional healer Elliot Fakudze, popularly known as Black Cat (Ikati elimnyama). Fakudze drowned while crossing the flooded Mndobandoba Bridge.

He was driving his Toyota Fortuner with three passengers on board.

Two survived while one passenger died along with Fakudze.
