PHONJWANE – Did you know that the late well-known traditional healer, Elliot ‘Black Cat’ Fakudze, was a devoted church member such that he was elevated to the position of president?

On top of that, he had his own branch at his home at Mndobandoba, Big Bend in the Lubombo Region.

This was revealed by The Catholic Christian Apostolic (TCCA) Church in Zion (Enkhosini) founder Bishop Jobane Mkhatshwa (94) yesterday.

Mkhatshwa, who founded the church during the late Jericho Church Founder Melika Vilakati’s time, was found at Phonjwane together with some of its senior members, preparing to go and convey their condolences to the late Black Cat’s family.

Founder

According to the founder of the church, they believe that the late Fakudze is with the Lord because of the good work he did while serving the Almighty in the church.

“As a Christian, the Lord blessed him (Fakudze) with power to heal the sick through prayer and he helped a lot of people,” Bishop Mkhatshwa said.

He said Fakudze, who died at the age of 62, had been a member of his church for over 35 years and served in various positions before he became an umengameli (president).

He added that the church did not have even a single report that portrayed him otherwise.

As a servant of the Lord, Bishop Mkhasthwa said the late Fakudze put God first and demonstrated this by his commitment to the church.

He said Fakudze was one of the church leaders who hardly missed an activity of the church, be it work that needed physical or financial muscle.

Services

“He also attended church services in the branch and at the headquarters at Mahlabatsini, Gilgal,” the founder of the Jericho church said.

On the other hand, Bishop Mkhatshwa said the fact that Fakudze died through water, did not mean anything to them as they believed this was an accident that could have happened to anyone, as many people had drowned in floods before. Fakudze died together with a female neighbour, whom he had offered a ride on Sunday afternoon.

This was after his car, a Toyota Fortuner, was swept away by floods while he was trying to cross Mndobandoba Bridge. There were four people in the car and the other two (teenage boys) survived.

Meanwhile, the TCCA Church in Zion has about 120 branches in the Kingdom of Eswatini, South Africa and Mozambique.
