BEWARE OF THOSE BUM CREAMS

MBABANE – Being curvaceous might now come easy for local women but they have been warned to be careful of the side effects that may come with bum enhancing creams.

Generally, women are known to care greatly about their looks, particularly the shape of their bodies and the beauty industry is always exploring ways for the fairer sex to enhance themselves.

This has brought about the birth of the buttocks and hips enlargement cream, which is now available in the country, but consumers are advised to think twice before using it.

The cream, which was described to be effective from a week after use, is sold in Manzini where the supplier is based.

The availability of the cream in the country was made public on social media platforms through a beauty page and it received a warm welcome, from locals who said they were keen to try it out.

The social media page is known to this publication but cannot be revealed because of ethical reasons. 

However, some locals responded to the advert saying they were worried that some of these instant beauty and body enhancing products had dire effects. In a quest to seek more information on the advertised product, the supplier was contacted through the number which was provided on the advert.

The person who answered the phone did not wish to reveal her identity and other personal information, but confirmed that she was selling a cream which enlarged hips and buttocks. 

The seller said the cream was currently on stock and it cost E1 000.

When asked how it worked, she said the cream was applied on the hips and buttocks.

“The hips and buttocks will start expanding in a few days. A person can stop applying once the hips and buttocks have reached their preferred size,” she said.

When asked if there were any side effects associated with using the cream, she said there were none. Explaining this, she said the cream was organic, meaning it was made from natural products which were not harmful to the skin.

“The product has been used by many people and I guarantee its results,” she said. She said the product was only available from her and interested people would have to travel to Manzini to collect it.

Expert

When sought for an expert opinion, Dr Kevin Makadzange, who is also the World Health Organisation (WHO) Health Promotion Officer, said procedures or substances that changed the natural form of a person’s body came with side effects.

“The body of a person is made naturally and it is proportional to its make out. There is no substance or procedure which alters the body that does not come with side effects.

“Also, anything that is artificial comes with a life span because there are body tissues that are being damaged in the process,” said Dr Makadzange.

He said such creams were like plastic surgery, which had a great temporary outlook but had long lasting effects.

He advised people to avoid using products that changed the natural make out of their bodies.

“The worst part about such products is that they are sold in an unknown or unverified market and this means the buyers are not protected,” said Dr Makadzange.

According to Legit website, the known side effects of applying bum and hips enlargement creams include rash, redness of the skin, itching and irritation. This is due to the various plant extracts in their composition which someone may be allergic to.
