DLAMINISM RIFE IN WORKPLACE - PUBLIC

MBABANE – The public believes that Dlaminism exists in the kingdom, especially in the workplace.

Dlaminism is the general assumption of unfair advantage over non-Dlamini citizens as if Dlaminis are superior to the rest of emaSwati with different surnames.

Interestingly, a significant number of citizens of the Kingdom of Eswatini are Dlaminis while others have closed ties with the surname.

The controversy has been brought to the fore again by a statement recently made by NAPSAWU President Oscar Nkambule, calling for unity among emaSwati to fight Dlaminism in the country and it seems like the general public is in support of his statement.

Statement

Nkambule made the statement when delivering the presidential report during the association’s national general council (NGC) meeting held at Divine Healing Ministries International auditorium in Manzini on October 29, 2020.

He was quoted by this publication saying as a union, they had noted that Dlaminism was allegedly taking over in most sectors of the country. Nkambule mentioned that recently, about three members of Emalangeni (Dlaminis) had been appointed to the Civil Service Commission (CSC).

He was further cited mentioning that his fear was that, the Dlaminis would soon start firing workers as the Ministry of Public Service had mentioned that the CSC had powers to do so to those who would be found to be on the wrong.

In that regard, the leader of the trade union said they needed to be united, not only as workers, but as emaSwati, to fight the Dlaminism in the country.

He said he was saying this because he feared that many emaSwati could soon be jobless because of the so-called Dlaminism.

He claimed that currently, and going forward, the Dlaminis were being appointed to positions where they would be responsible to hire and fire staff members.

The unionist agreed with members of the union that the issue of Dlaminism should be discussed at grassroots level; during meetings in the various chiefdoms of the country.

Corruption

It is worth noting that towards the end of last year, the former Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Sandile Dlamini, who is now holding the same position at Lidwala Insurance, boldly declared that a simple solution to combat corruption in the country could be getting rid of Dlaminism.

On the other hand, our sister publication, the Times SUNDAY, quoted Prince Masitsela as being against the notion of the existence of Dlaminism in the country.

The prince wondered where the thinking of the existence of Dlaminism emanated from.

He questioned why people could make a mockery of the Dlaminis when they took good care of them.

Meanwhile, the public disclosed that they experienced Dlaminism firsthand in the workplace.

Due to fear of victimisation, most of them preferred to comment on condition of anonymity.
