DEATHS REACH 106 AS 2 MORE DIE
MBABANE – The Ministry of Health yesterday announced two new COVID-19-related deaths, bringing the total to 106 in the country.
The cases were confirmed by the Minister of Health, Lizzie Nkosi.
The first death was of a 51-year-old man from the Shiselweni Region. The minister reported that he died while being evacuated to another facility for intensive care, after being on treatment for COVID-19-related illness and other co-morbidities.
The second death was of a 48-year-old man from the Manzini Region, who died while undergoing treatment for COVID-19-related illness at one of the health facilities, according to the minister.
Meanwhile, there were 25 new COVID-19 cases that were recorded yesterday.
Cases
The cases were discovered from 110 tests. This means that the total number of COVID-19 cases is 5 307.
Manzini Region recorded 14 new cases while Hhohho and Lubombo had five cases each and one was from the Shiselweni Region. Also, asymptomatic cases were five; those with mild disease were 17 while three presented with moderate disease.
By gender, there are 2 830 female cases in total while males are 2 477. The youngest reported case yesterday was one in the zero-to-nine age bracket and the oldest were three in the 50-to-59 years age group.
There were 25 new recoveries that were registered yesterday.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 4 672. This means that active cases are 529 while deaths are 106. The difference between active cases and recoveries is 4 143, in favour of the latter.
