2 NEW COVID-19 DEATHS, TOLL AT 103

MBABANE – The Ministry of Health announced two new COVID-19-related deaths yesterday, bringing the total  to 103 in the country. 

The deaths were confirmed by the Minister of Health, Lizzie Nkosi. 

The first death was of a 46-year-old woman from Hhohho Region. She died while undergoing treatment for underlying illnesses at a health facility, which was complicated by a COVID-19 diagnosis, according to the minister. 

The second death was of a 65-year-old man from Manzini Region, who died while undergoing treatment for a COVID-19-related illness.

 Meanwhile, there were 36 new COVID-19 cases that were recorded yesterday. 

The cases were discovered from 166 tests. This means that the total number of COVID-19 cases is 5 191. 

Manzini and Hhohho regions recorded 16 cases each while Lubombo Region had four new cases. 

Also, asymptomatic cases were five; those with a mild disease were 27 while four presented with a moderate disease. 

By gender, there are 2 777 female cases in total while males are 2 414. The youngest reported cases yesterday were three in the zero to nine age bracket and the oldest was one in the 70 to 79 years group.  

There were 21 new recoveries that were registered yesterday. The total number of recoveries now stands at 4 439. This means that active cases are 649 while deaths are 103. The difference between active cases and recoveries is 3 790 in favour of the latter.
