3 NEW DEATHS, TOTAL AT 73

MBABANE – The total number of COVID-19-related deaths in the country has risen to 73 after three new deaths were reported yesterday. 

The reports were confirmed by Minister of Health Lizzie Nkosi. Two of the deaths were from the Manzini Region while one was from Hhohho.

The first death was of a 77-year-old female from the Hhohho Region. According to the minister, the woman died last Saturday while undergoing treatment as a COVID-19 suspected case at one of the health facilities. The other was of a 72-year-old man from the Manzini Region who died on Sunday while undergoing treatment for COVID-19 and another unrelated complication at one of the health facilities, according to the minister. The last death was of a 46-year-old female, who also died last Saturday at a health facility while undergoing treatment for COVID-19 and a chronic condition. 

Meanwhile, there were 55 new cases that were reported yesterday.  Manzini had 19 cases followed by Hhohho with 17 while Shiselweni had 13 and six from the Lubombo Region. Also, 34 of the cases were asymptomatic while 21 had mild symptoms. The youngest cases were two in the age group of zero to nine years while the oldest were three in the 80 to 89 age bracket.  

There were 103 new recoveries that were reported yesterday, putting the tally at 2 371. This means that active cases are 1 450. 

There is a 921 difference between active cases and recoveries in favour of the latter.
