4 MORE COVID-19 DEATHS, TOTAL 53

MBABANE – The country has recorded four new deaths due to COVID-19, bringing the tally to 53.


The deaths were confirmed by Minister of Health Lizzie Nkosi yesterday.  Three of the deaths were males while one was a female. All the new deaths were between the ages 63 and 74.


The first reported death was that of a 74-year-old man from the Shiselweni Region, who died while being attended to for a COVID-19 disease and was being cared for in the intensive care unit (ICU), according to the minister.  The second death was of a 63-year-old man from the Manzini Region, who also died while under care in one of the country’s health facilities. 


Treatment


Furthermore, a 64-year-old man from Hhohho Region died while on treatment after being diagnosed with COVID-19. 
The last reported death was of a 74-year-old woman who, according to the minister, died within 24 hours while admitted as a suspected COVID-19 case.


Meanwhile, the minister also reported 53 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, bringing the total to 2 909 in the country. The 53 came from 408 tests that were received yesterday.  Manzini had 23 cases followed by Hhohho with 22 while Lubombo had seven and one from Shiselweni. There were two cases in the zero to nine age bracket while the eldest was one in the 60 to 69 years group.


Of the cases, three were moderate, 31 were mild and 19 were asymptomatic. In total, by gender, there were 1 527 females while males are 1 382.
There were 127 new recoveries, totalling 1 385. This means that active cases in the country are 1 471.
