2 MORE DEATHS, 63 NEW CASES

MBABANE – The country has recorded two new COVID-19 related deaths, bringing the total to 45 in the country.
The deaths were confirmed by the Minister of Health Lizzie Nkosi yesterday.


The first death is that of a 73-year-old man from the Manzini Region who passed away on Sunday while under care in one of the country’s health facilities. While on admission, the deceased, according to the minister, presented with severe respiratory distress and had a known pre-existing illness.


 The second death is of a 67-year-old woman from Shiselweni Region who also died while admitted to one of the country’s health facilities after presenting with shortness of breath on July 28, 2020.
Her condition deteriorated quickly, according to the minister.  The minister said the woman passed away on the night of admission in isolation ward and her results later came back positive for COVID-19.  Meanwhile, the country recorded 63 new cases of COVID-19. This means that the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country is 2838.


Hhohho Region had the highest cases as it recorded 38 followed by Manzini with 15 while Lubombo had six and four from Shiselweni Region.
 From the confirmed cases, five presented with severe symptoms while 31 had a mild disease and 27 were asymptomatic. 
Both age bracket one to nine and 80 years and above each had a case.


There were 39 new recoveries yesterday, bringing the total to 1238. This means that current active cases are 1 540.
