LAMGABHI – Today marks eight days since her disappearance and there is still no lead to baby Sakhile’s whereabouts.

This is the baby who was stolen at Mankayane Government Hospital by a woman, who disguised herself as a nurse. Born on February 29, 2020 at about 9am, baby Sakhile was stolen from her mother Yenzile Dlamini at the health institution and was taken in the presence of a temporary security guard last Sunday.

The bogus nurse took advantage that the woman was a first-time mother when she stole her day old infant under the disguise that she was going to take the baby for vaccination.

The mother did not suspect anything but gladly gave the baby to the woman whom she thought was a nurse.
To date, there have been no arrests or any lead to the whereabouts of the baby.

In an interview with Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, she revealed that there were no arrests made after the baby was stolen on Sunday last week.

“There are no arrests made yet and the police are still working tirelessly to find the baby,” Vilakati said.
In the past, police have tried and managed successfully to find a stolen baby.

The most recent case is one of Nombuso Bongiwe Maseko (26) of Malutha, who was arrested eight days after allegedly stealing a one-month-old baby from its sick mother at Logoba.

She allegedly stole the baby on July 2, 2019, and was granted bail fixed at E15 000 on September 25, 2019.
