CHRISTMAS – A TIME FOR GIVING, SHARING

For Christians, Christmas time is probably the most important time of the year, when the birth of Jesus Christ is celebrated across the world.

Christmas is especially a great time for children who can’t wait for Christmas morning when they can open their presents and enjoy the day with their loved ones. Regrettably, there are many children who do not have the same love or gifts nor do they have anything to look forward to on Christmas Day.

KFC, Pick n Pay Lorjaf , OBC, and Swazi Poultry Processors (SPP) came together this Christmas to make the day a special one for about 5 000 children and their caregivers.

On the day, 15 care points in the Manzini – Mbabane corridor were selected to benefit from the kind donation.
The festivities began early Christmas morning, with two groups of volunteers in Manzini and Mbabane who worked their way to Lobamba.
Areas visited include Lobamba, Mdzangwini, Fonteyn, Msunduza, Motshane, Sitibeni, Moneni,  and Mhobodleni, to mention a few.

The list of the Soup Kitchens visited include Mdzangwini Soup Kitchen; Fonteyn Soup Kitchen; Msunduza X 2, Nkwalini Noah’s ark Preschool; Makholokholo Soup Kitchens; Motshane Hope House; Sitibeni Soup Kitchen; Mdzimba Soup Kitchen; Lobamba Care Centre; Moneni Care Centre;  Mhobodleni Soup Kitchen;  Skomu Care Centre;  Lidwala Care Centre; Ticancweni Care Centre; Sidzakeni Care Centre; Gundvwini Care Centre and Masekweni Care Centre. The children received goodie bags that consisted of chicken, sweets, juice, cold drinks and marshmallows.

The chicken was  sponsored by SPP and prepared by KFC. OBC Butchery provided the sweets while Pick n Pay transported the goodie bags to the different care points.
The event was facilitated by members of Parliament Thandi Shongwe and Esther Dlamini.

Speaking to KFC’s Marketing Belinda Forbes, she said the event was part of Alliance Foods’ social responsibility to communities in need.
“Children need love especially during this time when everyone is celebrating Christmas. We felt it prudent to give a little to the children who don’t have much. It is a pleasure to come together to share food and creat delightful memories.”
