MBABANE – The Deputy Prime Minister, Themba Masuku, has alleyed the public’s fears on public transport hikes.

He has reassured that commuters should not panic as the set date for the increase in public transport fares had not been officially announced.
Masuku declared this yesterday during a briefing at the DPM’s Office, following that the public had been alarmed that bus fare hikes would be effected this coming Sunday.

The DPM highlighted that he had met with several ministers, including Minister of Home Affairs Princess Lindiwe, Minister of Public Works and Transport Chief Ndlaluhlaza Ndwandwe and Minister of Agriculture Jabulani Mabuza.

Discussed

He pointed out that they had met at the Swazi Commercial Amadoda, with transport stakeholders and discussed the issue.
He said the hikes would be effected once all the channels had been followed.

The DPM added that they would then return to the Ministry of Public Works to finalise the charges.
He further applauded transport operators for ensuring that emaSwati were transported to various destinations and that the development of the country continued.
