MBABANE – Heartless and gruesome! This best describes the act allegedly committed by a liSwati pupil in South Africa, who stabbed to death his teenage girlfriend.

After killing the 17-year-old girl, Sinethemba Maziba, *Musa (22) is alleged to have chopped her body into pieces before piling tyres on it and setting it alight over two consecutive days.

The couple were pupils at the same school, Mahlatsi High School.
Also, the name of Musa has been concealed to protect him as he was still enrolled at the school and if awarded bail could be victimised.
This is said to have happened last week at or near Schoemansdal, Driekoppies Dam near Malelane.

This is on the outskirts of Mpumalanga Province, which is about 10 kilometres from Matsamo Border Post.
The Matsamo Border Post is in the north-eastern parts of the country with the closest town being Buhleni.

Missing

It is reported that the girl had gone missing from November 8, 2019. Following that the girl had gone missing for some time, the family of the teenager approached the Community Policing Forum (CFR) to assist them with searching for the teenager. The CFR performs the same duties as community police locally.

An aunt to the deceased, Thandi Manzini, was reported by Sowetanlive, a South African online publication, as having said: “When she came back from school, she entered the house and changed. We gave her money to go buy something at the plaza and that was the last time we saw her. When she didn’t come back (from the plaza), we told the police and they didn’t help us. We then told the CPF, who took our matter seriously until the boy was found on Tuesday.
“Actually, we know the boy. After Sinethemba’s disappearance, he came to tell us that he hadn’t seen her, which is sad because he knew that he had killed her.”

The publication further reported the aunt as having said they (family of the deceased) later found out that he had waited for her at their house’s gate.
“He took her before she could even go buy what we had asked her to buy at the (shops). As a family, we are very disturbed and we (heard) from his friends that he sent an SMS to another friend, saying he stabbed her by mistake and burnt her. But he made a fool of us to even come here and say he had no idea where she was,” the aunt reportedly said.

Meanwhile, it was established that the CFR engaged Musa, who allegedly confirmed to be aware of his girlfriend’s whereabouts. After the alleged confirmation by Musa, it is said he led them to where the deceased’s corpse was.

South African Police Services (SAPS) Provincial Spokesperson, Brigadier Leonard Hlathi, when contacted by this publication, said police received a complaint from CFR members that they had apprehended a man suspected of having information on the whereabouts of the girl, who was reported missing at the beginning of the month. Muse reportedly pointed out a place where he allegedly committed the deeds and Sinethemba’s remains were found in the bush.
Meanwhile, it seems the number of emaSwati committing crime in the Republic is rising. Last year February, a local traditional healer was arrested for the kidnapping and murder of two minors with albinism from Witbank, Mpumalanga.

Kidnapped

One of the two children from Vosman, near Witbank, South Africa, had albinism. They were kidnapped and allegedly killed. The kidnapping incident occurred in January 2018, and the corpses suspected to be those of the two children were retrieved from different places in the Mpumalanga Province.

The local traditional healer was arrested for the crime, and two other men, who could possibly be from the country, were reportedly on the run.
The name and other particulars of the traditional healer have not been revealed as he is yet to appear in court.
