MANZINI - The original court order which was used to release Sipho Shongwe from Barberton Correctional services allegedly  has an endorsement that it was issued from Pretoria High Court.

This was revealed during the continuation of the murder suspect’s extradition case at the Manzini Magistrates Court yesterday. During his appearance yesterday, Principal Investigator of Shongwe’s matter, Senior Superintendent, Fanki Ntshehi, from the Scorpions in South Africa, presented his original file. This was after Shongwe’s lawyer, Ben J Simelane, applied to the court that those who were in possession of his client’s original file should bring it because some information was missing in the copies.

Noticed

After Ntshehi had presented the file, Simelane asked him if he noticed that at the bottom of the court order, there was an endorsement that it was typed by Pretoria High Court Typist Ria Davis. Ntshehi perused the document and he acknowledged the endorsement. However, when Simelane asked if he investigated the endorsement, he responded to the negative. On another note, Ntshehi denied knowledge of submissions of former Head of Barberton Correctional Services Antony Mashabane. This was after Shongwe’s representative told Ntshehi that Mashabane highlighted during his testimony that he (Ntshehi) was the one who interviewed him.

“Mashabane told this court that when you approached him, you already had a copy of Shongwe’s release papers and reflected that they were faxed from Manhattan Hotel in Pretoria and that is what I wanted to see in the original documents,” Simelane said. However, Ntshehi said he was surprised to hear that because he never interviewed Mashabane. Again, Simelane told Ntshehi that Mashabane said while he was carrying out his normal duties, he received a call from his office alerting him that there were visitors from the Scorpions and they wanted to have an audience with him. “I do not recall interviewing Mashabane,” Ntshehi maintained.
