MANZINI – An ex-convict is currently hospitalised after he was shot allegedly by a well-known Industrial Court judge.
The incident occurred on Saturday night outside the popular Kai-Kai Bar, situated in the outskirts of Manzini.

Sithembiso Mngometulu (27) alleged that when he went to the bar, he was going to check on his brother who had an altercation with some of the patrons there, however not the judge.

Found at the Raleigh Fitkin Memorial (RFM) Hospital yesterday, a furious and visibly traumatised Mngometulu alleged that he did not know the judge and had never seen him in his life.

The name of the judge cannot be revealed as he has not been arrested or charged yet.
Upon arrival at the bar at around 9:30pm, Mngometulu, a former convict, alleged that he found the judge, who was in the company of his friends.
He alleged that the judge pounced on him and first assaulted him with kicks and fists until he fell.

“I was too shocked and asked myself why the unknown man was assaulting me. I tried asking him why and what I had done, however, he did not respond. When I eventually stood up, he drew a gun, a revolver, and shot me in the left leg.”

“I fell again and he continued assaulting me, despite that I was bleeding profusely and weak. While he assaulted me, his three other friends joined him. I tried screaming and other patrons came to my rescue and when the judge realised that other people were attempting to attack him, he immediately got into his car and sped off,” Mngometulu alleged.

He also stated that after he had been shot, most people left the scene and said they were scared to take him to hospital.
Mngometulu said a man later picked him up, put him in his vehicle and drove with him to the police station, however, he had lost a lot of blood.
To his shock, he alleged that upon arrival at the police station, he found the judge who came to the car, and lit him with a cellphone flash light.

“I got so angry, especially because he had left me for dead outside the bar and drove away. why then did he bother to check on me while I was at the police station? What makes me angrier is the fact that he keeps on coming to the hospital with different people to engage me,” Mngometulu further alleged.
He added that the doctors had informed him that he would have to be later transferred to a hospital in Mbabane, where metal implants and screws would be inserted as he had suffered a fracture due to injuries he sustained.

Mngometulu expressed his anger and wondered why the judge showed up at the hospital, despite that he had reported his uninvited visitations to the police.
“For him to come where I am when he almost killed me is disrespectful and as much as the matter is being handled by the police, it could be dangerous for him to come where I am because my friends and family are not pleased by the incident.

“I am also not happy with the way the police have handled this matter and others which concern me. prior to this, I was stabbed by someone and that person continued issuing threats, however, he has not been arrested. The judge too is still roaming the streets, despite that an attempted murder case has been opened,” Mgometulu also alleged.

He revealed that he had just been released from prison after he was convicted of robbery and had reformed while was at the correctional services facility.
Mngometulu wondered why the judge wanted him to go back to his old ways. however, he was quick to mention that he would let justice take its course.
Medical doctors, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Mngometulu would spend about a month and a half in hospital as he had suffered multiple fractures when the incident occurred.
