When His Majesty the King announced the change of the country’s name to the Kingdom of Eswatini in April last year, he also called upon the citizenry to give meaning to the country’s independence by effecting changes that will grow this nation to attain a developed status.

It was in April 2018 when the King made the pronouncement which presented us all with an opportunity to reflect on who we are, why we exist and how we can work and grow together to attain the aspirations of our National Vision.

This challenge prompted us as a newspaper, to go back to the drawing board to introspect, look deeper into our purpose, find the needs of the society and innovate on how best we could positively impact the community we serve.

As we reflected over the past 12 months since the country’s name change, we have been able to look back at the significant role we have played in the growth and development of this country and have realised how we have become an integral part of the society we serve. This has helped us design how best to effect a change of name, from within, in order to give meaning to His Majesty’s call.

Therefore, as we celebrate the 51st independence anniversary of the Kingdom of Eswatini, we are proud to announce to our loyal readers, our business partners and society at large that with effect from today, we shall be trading under the banner of The Times of Eswatini Group of Newspapers.

The daily publication will now publish as the Times of Eswatini; the Saturday edition will trade as Eswatini News; while the Sunday newspaper will now be published as the Times of Eswatini SUNDAY.

Most exciting about these changes for us has been the journey to redefine our purpose. This process has brought about changes to our environment and our final copy. We are no longer just about what has happened, but are more concerned about creating opportunities for people to grow.

Education is a top priority for this country and Our Jobs and Tuition section on Tuesday provides guidance for students intending to pursue careers in various fields while motivating the working class to further their studies. Job seekers also have a platform to market their skills.

Our Farming section on Wednesday has brought a new meaning to farming with its useful tips on simple and affordable farming methods that will, no doubt, help drive this country towards attaining its food self-sufficiency targets. A healthy people is a healthy nation and a section dedicated to our health and beauty also features on Wednesday where cost-effective remedies to a healthy lifestyle are provided.

It is everybody’s dream to own a car and a home and our Thursday and Saturday editions present one with the opportunity to achieve this goal. We are also well alive to the fact that Eswatini is a religious nation and the Friday publication is well packaged to serve this sector.
Our 12-month-name change hibernation has also ended with recognising the unsung heroes in our communities who defy the odds by refusing to allow their challenges or disabilities to restrict them from making a living. Truly motivational stories are shared in our Monday publications under the title ‘I Am Able’.

Our new look interior at our offices along Sheffield Road, Industrial Sites Mbabane bears testimony to the internal activity where a more open, transparent working environment of less brick and more glass panels help bring everybody closer together. This resonates with our purpose of seeking transparency in all that we do as a country and providing an environment that makes people feel part of the national building process. With this and more, we can only say welcome to the Times of Eswatini!
