NGABEZWENI- His Majesty King Mswati III has told those who will submit their guns late for Butimba to forget it.

Butimba is an official hunting expedition which is authorised by the King in the country. The hunting which takes place in a chosen game reserve is open to all emaSwati under the instruction of the King.

Wild animals are killed for meat, skin and horns. The event is only open for a stipulated period.
Speaking through Indvuna Qomentanyeni Magagula when commissioning the regiment for the official hunting, the head of State urged the warriors to submit their guns on time for registration at Hlane Royal Residence today.

The King said the registration of the guns would take place upon arrival at the royal residence.
“As you leave Ngabezweni now, the next camp will be at Malindza Royal Kraal before you proceed to Hlane tomorrow morning. Those who will be using guns during the expedition are expected to register them upon arrival at Hlane. The guns will be locked somewhere after registration. Guns that will be submitted late will not be considered,” the King said. The King added that unregistered guns would not be accepted.

The much anticipated ceremony has been attended by hundreds of warriors from the Inyatsi, Inkhanyeti, Umgadlela and Bokhololo regiments.
The energetic and vibrant warriors assembled at Ludzidzini Royal Residence at 10am yesterday. They then entered the cattle byre where they received orders.

Marched

At exactly 10:25am, the warriors marched to Ngabezweni where they joined other regiments. Upon being commissioned after dancing to a couple of songs, the enthusiastic warriors expressed their excitment over the ceremony which comes after a long time.

The event was last held in 2015 and before that it was held in 2007.
In random interviews, the warriors said Butimba was the most exciting event because it afforded them an opportunity to show their bravery to the King. “Butimba means we have been assigned to hunt and present the game to the King. Presenting the game to the King makes us proud,” said the warriors. They said the event was also beneficial to them in that they would be exposed to nature’s scenery, with beautiful geographic features. “We will be safe from pollution for some days,” they said.

Favourite

When asked about their favourite animals, some warriors were not ashamed to state that they were interested in killing baboons. They said baboons had a good taste when compared to other animals. Some mentioned that they were interested in presenting warthogs before the King.

They claimed that they were well prepared for the assignment. Noted was that some warriors were armed with spears, bush knives, guns, and knobkerries.  Others stated that they would be using their dogs during the hunting expedition.

They stated that they would remain at the game reserve until the last day, which would probably be next week. The warriors left with their camping equipment, such as pots, blankets and sleeping mats.
They will get further orders at Hlane Royal Residence today.
