MANZINI – One of Eswatini’s most wanted armed robbery suspects, who had been on the run after he had committed a series of offences, has been shot dead in South Africa.

The suspect, Senzo Ndzinisa, popularly known as ‘Kash’, was allegedly gunned down by members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) while he was in Nelspruit last week.

Ndzinisa was wanted for having committed a string of armed robberies in most regions of the kingdom prior to escaping to South Africa. Some of the offences he is believed to have committed and was wanted for include the Mhlaleni Filling Station (Puma) robbery where about E300 000 cash was stolen in broad daylight at gun-point.

Robbery

He was also wanted for another Puma Filling Station (Moneni) armed robbery, where over E500 000 was also stolen at gunpoint.
Information gathered is that the suspect was shot while committing another armed robbery in the Mpumalanga Province, South Africa.
Ndzinisa, who had been in and out of the country, died after the South African police opened fire during the commission of the offence.

It is further alleged that the suspect, who had been wanted by the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) since 2016, was with two friends when he was shot dead by the police.

Well-placed sources revealed that one of the suspects was also shot dead by the SA police while the other, a LiSwati managed to escape.
The liSwati who allegedly survived the shooting is suspected to be one of the men wanted for the Riverstone Mall heist, which occurred in 2012 in Manzini.
The REPS issued a list of six suspects who, on July 2, 2012, allegedly stole over E1 million in an armed robbery at the Riverstone Mall, shooting and killing one security guard and injuring another in the process.

It could not, however, be gathered how and where exactly Ndzinisa and the other accused persons committed the offence in Mpumalanga, but social media was abuzz on the weekend over the demise of the suspect, who was also a socialite.

His family has been informed about the incident and a family member who refused to have his name published, confirmed that Ndzinisa’s mother, who resides in the outskirts of Manzini, had already been informed about the shooting incident.

The REPS was also informed by their South African counterparts about the shooting over the weekend.
Yesterday, the Matsapha Circuit Court had a lot of attorneys and court officials engaging about Ndzinisa’s death.

Lawyers

Most lawyers revealed that they had represented Ndzinisa on numerous times during his court appearances for robbery offences.
“The first time I met him was along the corridors of the courtrooms where he was in a panic mode and desperately wanted me to legally represent him for offences he had committed,” one of the prominent attorneys said.
