MANZINI - Why Eswatini? This is the question which a number of people who read about the spells and magic competition for traditional healers and witchdoctors asked themselves, and the traditional healer from DRC, Guensta Ikartachi has an answer.

The DRC man claimed that he got to know the country through invites by the late businessman and football administrator, Victor Maradona Gamedze.
He alleged that Gamedze met him in DRC some years ago and he would invite him to the country as a tourist.
“I used to come to the country and would often see him and then go back to my home country,” he alleged.

He said after the demise of Gamedze, he became a regular visitor to the country and he ended up making friends, some of whom he was working with in this project.
As a result, he said he ended up having two consultation rooms (tindumba) in the country which he uses when he is around. He said one of the consultation rooms is at Ngwane Park, and that is where he was found yesterday while the other is in Ezulwini.

Otherwise, he said apart from his own country, he had hosted similar competitions in countries like Cameroon, Gabon and Kenya among others.
On top of that, Ikartachi said Eswatini was a blessed and peaceful nation and that was why it was on the list of countries to do business in.
“Eswatini is a spiritual country and when I first came to the kingdom, my spirits were happy,” he claimed.

Ikartachi, from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), is organising the competition and said members of the public would watch the contest for free.
“Those who need magical (herbal and spiritual) assistance to change their current situations, ranging from rare illnesses to disabilities, will also be attended to for free,” the DRC traditional healer said.

In fact, he said another purpose for the door-to-door visits to traditional healers and witch-doctors across the country, was to discuss such issues.
He said it would be during the visits where he would explain his ideas to them and in turn they would also make suggestions on how it could be a win-win for all. He said this was because even in his home country, he did not get honour because of money but for putting people’s lives first.
He said money was not his goal but to use his talent and powers to help people.
He said that was why his plan was to host the competition for local traditional healers for free and in turn help emaSwati free of charge on the day.
Calls
On another note, Ikartachi said following the public announcement about his initiative, his local partners were flooded with calls from interested candidates who wanted to know when he would pay them a visit.
“I then decided to reschedule the door-to-door visits and start with those in the Hhohho Region tomorrow (today) and on Saturday, I will be in Manzini and Lubombo,” he said.
It is worth noting that it is not only traditional headers and witch-doctors who are looking forward to the day of the competition as social media was abuzz about the public announcement of the spells and magic competition for tinyanga (traditional healers and witch-doctors).
In fact, some members of the public showed interest in attending the competition, which will be a first of its kind in the country, as they asked where they could get tickets to the event, among other things, pertaining to the proposed event.
Among these people, some said they were interested in choosing who could help them in their challenges from the pool of traditional healers and witch-doctors who would be participating in the competition. However, others seemed to be interested because they wanted to witness the powers of the tinyanga.
Others posted funny comments, making a mockery of the event.
