MAN STABS, KILLS BROTHER

MBITA – A man is on the run after allegedly launching a drunken and brutal knife attack on his younger brother at Mbita in broad daylight, killing him in the process.

Mbita is located in the outskirts of the small border town of Gege, in the southern part of the kingdom. The horrific stabbing is attributed by residents to a personal grudge emanating from the victim’s alleged failed attempt to have sexual intercourse with his brother’s wife a few weeks ago.

Brew

The incident began last Wednesday, shortly after 2pm, with the elder brother yelling at his younger sibling while they were at a certain homestead in the area, where a group of young men were enjoying traditional brew which had been provided by the owner after they had completed a task she had asked them to do for her. This publication learnt that everything had been going well, with everyone enjoying the brew when the elder brother suddenly rose up and started pointing a finger at the young lad, saying he did not want to see him anywhere near the place. He is said to have later disappeared for a short while as someone who had gone to pass water, but returned fuming when he saw his brother still among the rest of the group. Others are said to have tried to calm the situation but the man increasingly became aggressive against his younger sibling.

Things reportedly came to a head when the aggressive family member pulled out a large knife, prompting bystanders to try and protect the younger sibling by throwing him out of the homestead. “He was advised to leave the premises for his own safety and he obliged,” narrated a witness, who said the young lad left the homestead in the company of two other men.
However, his visibly angry brother, who had the big knife in his hand, pursued the trio and the fighting resumed once he caught up with them. A witness said during that skirmish, the younger sibling got stabbed in the back and he collapsed immediately, with blood oozing from the wound. The witness mentioned that one man had attempted to protect the victim by stepping in between the feuding siblings but he was pushed away by the attacker who eventually plunged the knife in the back of his younger brother.
