MANZINI – A Swazi National High School teacher has been arrested and charged with the sexual abuse of two females, a University of Eswatini (UNESWA) student and a pupil from an undisclosed school.

The teacher, Eric Mthokozisi Matse (45) of Kwaluseni, who was arrested by the Matsapha Police under the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), is alleged to have unlawfully kissed, fondled and touched the two women’s thighs, breasts and private parts without their consent while they were at the teachers’ quarters. The accused person had allegedly promised to financially assist one of the women with her school fees.

The first complainant, *Rose in statements recorded by the police revealed that she stayed with the UNESWA student, *Khabo. She said while they were relaxing in the house, Khabo received a phone call and put the caller on a loud speaker. “I could hear that it was the accused person, who told Khabo to come and collect some cash so I could manage to pay school fees as he had promised. On the following morning, I went to the teachers’ quarters to collect the money,” she said. Rose added that when Matse eventually arrived, he complained of a stomach ache and requested that she brought him some water from the kitchen so he could take some tablets. “When i fetched the water, he was already in his bedroom. He called me in so I could give him the water, however, he placed the glass on the side table and ordered me to sit on the bed,” Rose said.

She further revealed that while seated on the edge of the bed, he allegedly shoved his hand underneath her floral dress and said she should not be afraid of him.  Rose alleged that the teacher continued brushing her all over, her thighs and further kissed her. “I told him to stop and cried hysterically, that was when he stopped and begged me not to tell anyone about the incident. He kept on apologizing and later told me to wash his soccer jersey and take it out to the washing line,” Rose revealed.
