KING HOLDS AVIATION TALKS

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – The Kingdom of Eswatini continues to seek a strategic partner for its aviation industry.


Yesterday, His Majesty the King held private talks with the directorship of PEG Aviation company which were centred on airport infrastructure, aircraft maintenance facilities, creation of viable routes and other investment opportunities that the country has to offer.


The King Mswati III International Airport situated at Sikhuphe in the North east of the country, is currently serviced by a joint venture between the Eswatini National Airways Corporation and Airlink, a subsidiary of the South African Airways. 


Several proposals have been made to international aviation companies with a view of forging partnerships to maximise this facility. 
A proposal has been made to PEG Aviation, a company that also has business interest in cement manufacturing, alternative fuels and renewable energy.


During the talks with the King, the company was represented by Mark Lambert and Michael Verniol while the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Thuli Dladla, Minister of Labour and Public Service Makhosi Vilakati, Eswatini Ambassador Zwelethu Mnisi, Prince Masitsela, Chief Officer in the King’s Office Mgwagwa Gamedze, King’s Private secretary and Deputy Chief Officer Mbongeni Simelane and Chief Financial Officer of the Eswatini National Airways Bongani Kunene formed part of the local delegation during the talks.


The king is in Geneva to attend the 108th session of the International Labour Organisation which celebrates 100 years since its inception in 1919. He is expected to address the conference today.
