MBABANE – The people who were arrested and charged in connection with the death of Njabulo ‘Sdivane’ Nkambule have been identified as Solani’s Shisanyama operations manager, an employee and two security officers.

The Operations Manager, Nkosinathi Justine Khanyile (29), of Dlangeni, appeared together with Nkosingiphile Fakudze  (33) of Malindza, Ntuthuko Themba Simelane (25) of Nkomonye and Banele Linda ‘Linyora’ Mtsetfwa (35) of Corporation.
The quartet was remanded in Magistrate Lenhle Zulu’s chambers at the Mbabane Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

The charge sheet states that upon or about May 17, 2019, at or near Solani’s Shisanyama, in the Hhohho Region, the accused persons each or all of them acting jointly and in furtherance of a common purpose, wrongfully and unlawfully assaulted one Njabulo ‘Sdivane’ Nkambule with sjamboks kicks, fists and a gas cylinder several times all over the body, inflicting fatal wounds from which he died.

The quartet was remanded in custody until June 7, 2019 pending committal to the High Court. They are represented by Linda Dlamini who moved a bail application on their behalf at the High Court.

At the time Dlamini moved the application, the quartet was reportedly at the Mbabane Government Hospital where they were taken for blood samples which would form part of evidence in the matter.

Money

In his founding affidavit, Khanyile submitted that while he was on duty on the day the offence was committed, a certain man from the Republic of South Africa reported that he had been robbed of his money and some personal items comprising of a cellphone, which were in his jacket.

He stated that given that he was an operations manager at the establishment and in line with the report he had to see to it that the safety of customers was guaranteed. Khanyile submitted that his duty was to make sure that complaints from customers were addressed and that offenders were identified and apprehended for the recovery of the items.

The manager claimed that information gathered from the customer was to the effect that he was robbed of the items while buying roast chicken, popularly known as ‘chicken dust’ outside the establishment.
Khanyile averred that as a result, he, together with some security officers, proceeded to the vendors to enquire if they had seen the man who matched the description of the alleged robber described by the customer.
