PIGG’S PEAK – Ntfonjeni Member of Parliament (MP) Sifiso ‘Sompisi’ Magagula fears for his life and claims he is no longer able to move freely.
As such, he now has a contingent of armed bodyguards who are with him 24 hours a day.

Even though the exact number of the bodyguards could not be ascertained, it is believed that they are not less than four at a given point.
“I fear for my life to attend public events,” said Magagula.
Speaking during a soccer event where he presented E40 000 to teams, Magagula said he was not able to contribute positively to his community because his life was under threat.

Meeting

Magagula was accompanied by about four bodyguards during the meeting. The bodyguards were introduced as ‘tivakashi’ (guests).
They sat quietly during the meeting but mindful of the MP’s movements during the visit to Ntfonjeni High School where the event was held.
The bodyguards also drove with him in a vehicle.

Under normal circumstances, such an event would have been held at the Inkhundla centre as it was a central and neutral point but the MP has in the past been warned against carrying out activities at the centre.
Magagula, during his speech, called for peace in the community.
He said the community should live up to His Majesty’s request of peace in the country.

Previously the MP’s concerns were also reported to the police after several residents had protested that they did not want him near the Inkhundla.
Magagula, however continued to call for peace during a meeting on Saturday where he awarded soccer teams with cash amounting to E40 000 as part of the Ntfonjeni Soccer League sponsorship.

“Let us embrace His Majesty’s wish of promoting peace in our communities,” he said. The MP also said he would not take part during the 2023 parliamentary elections adding that he now no longer leads a peaceful life.
Some of the residents who were representing various soccer teams, however, told the MP that it was not up to him to decide whether he would join the race in 2023 or not.

Nominated,

“Only the people will decide whether you should not be nominated, not you,” a resident said.
Noteworthy is that some of the soccer players who were supposed to be presented with cash prizes did not show up.

The MP also expressed concern that even if he were to buy jerseys for some soccer teams, they would burn them.
Some of the residents complained that projects had not been able to continue in the community because of the ongoing impasse between the MP and some disgruntled residents.

The bone of contention is said to be the election results but the details will not be mentioned as the matter was reported to the Elections and Boundaries Commission.
