MBABANE – Eswatini has contributed E3 million worth of items to assist the Mozambique flood victims.

The last consignment, which adds on to the E3 million worth items was collected on Tuesday by the Deputy Prime Minister’s (DPM) Office.
Donations have been collected since the beginning of April to aid the flood victims.

Organisations which brought forward the contributions included the Public Service Pension Fund (PSPF), Mbabane Municipality, Eswatini TV and Conference of Churches.
The donations include blankets, clothing for different age groups and gender, shoes, 50kg maize meal, 50kg sugar, beans, buckets and bottled water among others.

Eswatini TV Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Bongani Sigcokosiyancinca Dlamini said the management and staff of the television station contributed items worth over E30 000 to help the flood victims in neighbouring Mozambique.
Dlamini said they responded following the SOS call by the DPM’s Office to the nation to assist with any contributions that could help devastated Mozambican nationals.

He thanked Inkhosikati LaNkambule, who donated blankets, also lending a hand.

Supportive

Dlamini said the Inkhosikati was always supportive each time there was a need.

Receiving the items on behalf of the DPM, Zandile Mavuso, who works under the Disaster Management office, said the donations would go a long way in helping those in need.

Mavuso said the people of Mozambique really appreciated the gesture forwarded by the country.
She said the nation had proved that if the country could witness a catastrophe, they would be able to stand up and support each other where there was a need as they had shown in helping the neighbouring country.
