MANZINI – Women are known to be affectionate and protect children, but not for a 65-year-old female vendor.

This is because Noncwala Ginindza (65) of Mahlabane under Chief Ngalonkhulu Mabuza, was held for burning a 15-year-old girl on her thigh.
Ginindza threw a burning log at the teenage girl aiming at her private parts, however it (log) landed on her upper thigh.

According to the charge sheet, before assaulting the minor, Ginindza is said to have shouted and threatened that she would burn their private parts, which were making them act in a disrespectful manner.
In vernacular, she said: “Ngitanishisa (private parts) yenu lenishisako.”

Crates

This was because a group of girls were sitting on top of crates which she used to sell her wares. This act by the girls was said to have agitated the elderly woman, such that she picked a burning log and threw it at one of the girls’ thigh.

By sheer luck and her reflex movement, the teenager is said to have been saved from injuring her private parts as the burning log landed on her upper thigh next to the groin. The incident, which left the 15-year-old girl’s schoolmates horrified, took place on Wednesday afternoon near St Joseph’s Mission School.

A source close to the matter alleged that the 15-year-old girl, who is attending school at St Joseph’s Missionary School was with her schoolmates and waiting for a bus back home when the incident took place.

He said while waiting for transport at the bus stop, *Senani and her friends decided to relax in one of the market stalls owned by the elderly woman. He said the elderly woman, who sells fruits and vegetables among others things, was using another stall on the day and when she saw the pupils playing in her market stall, she angrily shouted at them.

The source revealed that the woman had smeared ash on the market stall to prevent the pupils from playing in it.
As she yelled at them, the source said the elderly woman grabbed a burning firewood and charged towards them. Upon seeing her charging towards them carrying the burning firewood, some of the girls ran away while Senani remained behind trying to pick up her books on the ground.
