MADLANGEMPISI - Catastrophic! This term best describes the situation at Tfuntini area, as 15 homesteads, two care points and a school were annihilated by a fierce storm last Wednesday.

Tfuntini is situated in the Hhohho Region under the Madlangemphisi Constituency.
According to Simon Zulu, who is the current bucopho in the area, the storm occurred at around 7pm and lasted for a period of about 20 minutes.
He said residents of the area were left dumfounded, as they watched, in disbelief, their houses being razed down by the storm.

Zulu revealed that among the structures affected by the storm was Kamachudze care point, a structure that provided food for destitute children in the area.
Narrating how the storm razed down the care point, he said there was an open space which was not built up on the other side of the structure, since it was still under construction.

He said he suspected that the storm might have taken advantage of that opening and destroyed the structure.
Zulu mentioned that no one was present inside the structure when the storm struck; as a result no one was injured.

Food

He also stated that no property was damaged and there were no food stuffs which were affected since they were stored safely at a certain home nearby.
He mentioned that the storm was fierce, to an extent that, even electricity poles were razed to the ground.
“We were so fortunate though, because the Eswatini Electricity Company personnel were prompt to respond, as they restored the poles the next morning,” said Zulu.

Among the families whose houses were affected by the storm was a Magagula family.
According to a family member of the Magagula homestead, who preferred to be anonymous, two boys were inside the house when the storm invaded their compound.
