MBABANE – The inclusion of the word ‘cannabis’ in the Eswatini Cannabis Association could be one reason the entity has failed to be registered.

When the Registrar of Companies under the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade, Msebe Malinga, was engaged on the registration delays that the association cited during their launch at Mountain Inn on Monday, he said Trevor Shongwe, the association’s Administrator, knew the reasons.

Malinga said upon the submission of their documents, the Registrar of Companies Office raised its concerns with the association and asked them to come to his office to discuss them.

He said he had seen Shongwe last Thursday and told him to come to his office on Friday but he never showed up.
“I talked to him on Monday, asked him to come see me on Tuesday. Again, he never showed up. So please ask Shongwe to tell you the truth of the matter,” Malinga said in an interview.

He said since he had told Shongwe that they needed to meet the same month they submitted their registration forms, Shongwe was free to come to his office as he was waiting for him to come.
