MBABANE – The entertainer who has been arrested and charged with attempted murder is DJ Cece.

The pint-sized spinner, whose real name is Celumusa Dlamini, is known for rocking fun lovers in some of the well-known hangout spots in the country.
Dlamini (32) of Luyengo under Chief Lembelele, is alleged to have shot Elliot Zitha with a pistol and in the process inflicted a near fatal wound to his (Zitha) left thigh. According to the Crown, Zitha nearly died from the wound.

The DJ has been slapped with three charges.
He is reported to have committed the offences at or near KaMntshawe Lodge in Mbabane on February 22, 2019.

Contravening

Dlamini is also facing a charge of contravening the Arms and Ammunition Act. On the same day, he was allegedly found in possession of a Bersa 9mm pistol without a valid licence.  His third charge is that of contravening the same Act, in that he was found in possession of seven live rounds of ammunition without a permit.

He yesterday moved an application for bail at the High Court where he denied to have committed the offences.
Dlamini informed the court that he was innocent of the charges against him and would plead not guilty during his trial.
Narrating the events leading to his arrest, Dlamini stated that on February 22, 2019, he was enjoying alcoholic beverages in the company of his friends at KaMntshawe Lodge.

He said seeing that it was already late; they decided to take a taxi home. According to Dlamini, since they were more than five, some of his friends boarded another taxi.

“On our way, I was sitting at the back when I suddenly felt something just underneath my feet. I discovered that it was gun. As I took a closer look at the a gun, the car reached a speed hump and in the process, the firearm released a bullet which hit the driver in the hip,” submitted the DJ.He told the court that he knew nothing about the firearm and it was his first time to get hold of it.

Dlamini claimed that he got to learn after the police interrogated him, that in fact the safety switch of the gun was not on and that was the reason the bullet in the chamber was released.

He informed the court that he had no intention to shoot anyone since he was not even aware that there was a gun in the motor vehicle. Dlamini said in any event, he did not know how to even operate a firearm.

Traumatised

“I must mention that the incident traumatised me to an extent that my family has organised a psychologist for me,” submitted the accused.
The DJ went on to state that the Crown had been informed about his conditions.  He urged the court to take into account that in prison he could not access psychological attention because it was only granted to convicts as opposed to awaiting trial prisoners.
